Investing in wood sustainably and effectively is the trend. Modern investments in wood focus on the climate impact of the industry and the long-term storage of CO₂ in wooden buildings.

The growth of sustainable investments continues unabated: Swiss Sustainable Finance writes in its 2022 market report
"...the volume of sustainable investments increased by 30% to CHF 1,982.7 billion. Sustainable mandates recorded the highest growth rate at 109%. Sustainable investment funds grew by 15% and the sustainable assets of asset owners by 11%". However, while the investment volume is increasing, the industry is still finding it relatively difficult to define clear and generally applicable sustainability criteria.

Problem

Cement is responsible for 9% of global CO₂ emissions. One cubic meter of concrete causes 500 kg of CO₂ emissions. Timber, on the other hand, stores around 1,000 kg of CO₂ per cubic meter. However, current industrial wood production with a yield of only around 30% is not material-efficient. 70% is processed into fuel and thus back into CO₂.

Solution

With the Scrimber CSC method, whole trees can be processed into load-bearing construction products. The tree trunks are crushed into chips using rollers. These are dried, glued and then continuously pressed into panels as raw boards for CLT glulam for walls, ceilings and roofs. The yield is around 90%.

Offer

The public limited company Scrimber CSC Holding SA was founded in 2022 and is fully paid up with a share capital of 100,000. A further 1,000 shares will be issued as part of a capital increase. The premium is a factor of 20, the price per share is CHF 2,000, i.e. a total of 2.0 million.
